To obtain this concession the college will need a photocopy of documentation to show what payment you are on. This must be presented on registration along with your pps number. This class is for beginners and those with some experience.
During the term the areas covered include still life, landscape, personal projects and mixed media. There is an emphasis on gaining proficiency in basic colour mixing, use of primary, secondary and complementary colours, opaque and transparent colours and colour theory.
Painting techniques such as impasto, sgraffito, glazing, wash, and use of the palette knife, exploring the use of various brushes, round, flat, filberts, riggers & household decorating brushes and use of household sponges/ natural sponges.
Use of clingfilm, salt, sand and eggshells is incorporated in mixed media alongside ink/ acrylic, chalk and oil pastel and wax resist techniques

Hide-The student will be instructed on painting surface, canvas, paper and how to prepare a ground, staining, priming the surface for acrylic painting. At the conclusion of the course, the student will have learned successful colour mixing, the basic colour palette to use/ buy and how to create depth in a painting using colour. The student will be able to incorporate the painting techniques described above to enhance the students own individual work and resolve painting issues as they arise.
Information on painting techniques, advice on how to keep a sketchbook/ journal and selected artists covered in class to illustrate colour theory, landscape and portraiture will be available to the student in printed format.
