Hide-A participant contribution charge of €200 has been introduced by the Department of Education and Skills and applies to all learners who enrol on an approved Further Education / Post Leaving Certificate Programme. Eligible participants on PLC courses of more than one year's duration must pay the contribution for each year of that course.
The following categories of participant are exempt from paying the contribution:
Full medical card holders in their own right and their dependent children;
Those who are eligible under the student grant scheme;
Those in receipt of the Back to Education Allowance (BTEA) or Vocational Training Opportunity Scheme (VTOS) allowances.
Student Service Charge
A student service charge will also apply. Details of this charge is available from Schools / Colleges / Centres directly. This fee contributes to administration costs and services to learners.
Programme Costs:
Students should budget for the cost of examinations, textbooks and materials. These costs may vary from course to course. Specific information regarding costs in respect of individual courses is available from Schools / Colleges / Centres directly.

These grants are means-tested and payable monthly. Payments of grants is subject to attendance in accordance with the Department of Education and Skills regulations.

It is advisable to make application for a Grant on time and in the manner requested. All requested supporting documentation must also be provided.
