Course Content Aim of the Course
This course gives students the opportunity to build the knowledge, skill and competence required for participation in higher education, including acquiring a broad range of knowledge for an academic discipline, and key skills for academic research and enquiry.

Duration One year full-time course from September to May. Classes are timetabled Monday to Friday.

Course Fee In line with the Department of Education and Skills guidelines, there are no tuition fees.

However, the following are payable:
€20 non-refundable administration fee with your application form.
€100 registration fee on commencement of a course.
€200 contribution to the Department of Education and Skills - see exemptions under Finance.
€50 QQI exam fees payable in January - Medical Card Exemption.
Some modules will require the purchase of a text book or material.

Interview Interviews will be held in May 2017 and places will be offered at that stage. Interviews will also be held in late August to fill any remaining places. Therefore early application is advisable.
Application Date Applications taken from April 3rd, 2017.

(i) completed application form
(ii) €20 non-refundable deposit
(iii) copy of most recent exam results/school report where appropriate.
(iv) 2 passport photographs
(v) a copy of your PPS card/medical card if applicable
(vi) a mobile telephone number and e-mail address
(vii) a photocopy of your birth certificate

Work Experience
Students source placements in various offices/ businesses for two weeks to experience the world of work and to gain hands-on experience in a vocational field.
Entry Requirements Applicants must possess the Leaving Certificate/ Leaving Cert Applied or equivalent. If you are over twenty-one, you can apply to enrol as a mature student on the basis of your age and experience. The learner must be Garda Vetted to avail of college facilities.
Assessment Method Assessment
Continuous assessment takes place on all PLC courses. Work produced throughout the year such as projects and assignments will be graded and will contribute towards final assessment.
