In association with the Accounting Technicians Ireland, study for a professional qualification leading to a career in commercial, industrial and public sector organisations and in the oces of practicing accountants.
Accounting Technicians Ireland has over 10,000 members and students and provides an internationally recognised qualification with a reputation for the highest educational and technical standards.
After two years at Mallow College followed by two years of work experience, you become a member of Accounting Technicians Ireland with excellent career prospects.
Alternatively graduates can progress directly into year three of accountancy degrees or into other professional accountancy certification programmes. Having completed Accounting Technician exams, you are exempt from three out of five of the Chartered Accountants Ireland year 1 exams. About 40% of CPA Ireland students come directly from an Accounting Technician background - exempt from all subjects at Formation 1, and Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Taxation at Formation 2. Putting you very close to achieving a career as a qualified Certified Public Accountant.

ATI registration fees and examination fees.
All courses at Mallow College of Further Education are funded through the National Development Plan (NDP) and there are no tuition fees for EU nationals (non-EU students should contact the College for details on eligibility and course fees). However, students are required to pay a student services fee of €250. A deposit of €50 is required to reserve a course place. Failure to pay this deposit may result in the course place being allocated to another applicant.
Students may also be required to pay an annual Government participation fee of €200.
• However, Full Medical Card holders and those in receipt of the Back to Education Allowance (BTEA) or Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme (VTOS) allowances are exempt from paying this contribution.
• Students awarded a student maintenance grant will be refunded the Government participation fee subject to proof of receipt of the grant.
Fees for examinations and certification will be outlined by course co-ordinators. Students who are Medical Card holders may be exempt from some state examination fees. Certain courses also carry additional course related costs, further details of these can be found in the relevant course details. Means tested Maintenance Grants are available to students who are progressing to a QQI Level 5/6 Award or equivalent and who have not previously studied for such an award at similar or higher level on the National Framework of Qualifications. The amount of the grant depends on the distance a student travels from their place of residence to the college.
Student Grant applications can be made online only to Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) through www.susi.ie Applications can be made from May and should be made before starting a course.

Leaving Certificate or equivalent. For mature applicants appropriate experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
All applicants will be required to attend an interview.
An offer of a place on this course is contingent on the applicant meeting the minimum entry requirements set out here, and satisfactory presentation at interview. |

Education Progression Opportunities
Graduates become MATI members that can join Professional Accountancy bodies and seek exemptions based on their results. Graduates can apply for admission to Year 3 of Accounting degrees in CIT (CR400), LIT (A7221) and beyond. See mallowcollege.ie/ progressions for further information.
