Hide-This very practical course offers training in the skills needed to work in the caring professions. It is a preparation for those who wish to work in the community helping others, such as people with special needs, the older person and in early childhood care and education.
Applications are particularly invited from those who wish to return to education after a break of many years. It provides adults with a second chance to gain the education and qualifications they need for their personal, work and community life.
The course is for one academic year from September to May and will be held from 9.00am to 1.00pm Monday to Friday.
This one year course provides certification at QQI level 5 in early childhood care and education (ECCE). It meets the requirements for the ECCE pre-school programme.

Learners have the opportunity to achieve certification in either Early childhood Care and Education or in Community Health Services in one year.
QQI Certificate in Community Health Services (5M4468) Level 5
QQI Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education (5M2009) Level 5
Practical First Aid Course offered every other year. |

All applicants will be interviewed, there is no academic entry requirement It is desirable that applicants be over 21 years of age |
| Careers or Further Progression |
Graduates from this course may apply for admission to an advanced certificate at level 6. Students may also apply after one year through the QQI links scheme for entry to diploma/degree courses in Institutes of Technology and Universities.
Many of our past students are employed as Special Needs Assistants, community workers, and care assistants in hospitals, schools, homework clubs and a range of other settings.
