The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

Hide-Education: No formal education or qualifications are required although applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 2 when accessing a Level 3 programme.
Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a limited range of knowledge, skills and competencies skills relevant to the course and be able to work under direction.

Hide-Purpose
The purpose of this award is to enable the learner to develop the relevant knowledge skill and competence to use a range of skills and tools, under direction and with limited autonomy, in familiar situations. It enables the learner to participate in and contribute to modern society, to pursue a range of employment opportunities or to progress to further education or training.
Persons in receipt of a DSP payment can retain their payment while completing the course subject to approval by DSP. All applicants must check with their local DSP/Intreo office, that they are eligible to do the course.
Persons in receipt of illness benefit need to apply for an exemption to do the course with their local office that make their payment.
No training allowance is payable for part-time courses.
Following on from an application to do the course, applicants will be sent to LMETB to complete a pre-course assessment. All course offers are subject to numbers and can be withdrawn if there are insufficient numbers to fill a class.
