Hide-This course is aimed at anyone who is interested in learning more about the history of a particular locality. Perhaps you want to research the history of the area you live in now, or a place where your ancestors resided. Maybe you’d like to find out more about a certain trade or community within a specific locale. Whatever your reason, this course will introduce you to some of the concepts underlying local history, and the key sources you need to research them, as well as providing you with tips on how to write up your findings.
This course is aimed at those who have are interested getting started with local history.
The course will include lectures on key topics, but participants will also be encouraged to share their experiences, and there will be an emphasis on practical engagement with the sources both individually and as a group. There will be a particular focus on local history as it relates to areas of Co. Cork, and other parts of Munster.

Memory: Oral histories and Folklore. Next steps.
The course consists of 6 two-hour lectures. [May include visit to archive]
