Hide-Do you have an interest in responding to the health needs of young people? Do you wish to develop your understanding of the determinants of health on people’s lives? If you interested in the significant role of research in the development of knowledge and best practice in health promotion and wish to acquire or further develop the core competencies to practice health promotion - then this course is for you.
This part-time course, run in partnership with the National Youth Council of Ireland, takes place over one academic year, starting in September 2016 and finishing in May 2017, with 15 contact teaching days (5 blocks of 3 days) in Dublin. The course aims to provide students with a professional education and training in the principles and practice of health promotion.
Students take a generic module - Foundations of Health Promotion, a specialist youth health module – which includes content on young people and health behaviour, and the settings approach to health promotion. A practical project is the final component which involves the development of an organisational health promotion strategy.
