The programme is designed for existing Level 8 graduates from either a technical or an artistic discipline who wish to upskill for the animation industry and other divergent industries in which animation expertise is key. It is the only course of its kind in Ireland and it aims to give graduates a detailed knowledge and understanding of the creative, developmental and programming strands within the 3D computer animation discipline and also make them skilled in the use of a range of 3D animation applications.
Who Should Apply?
This course aims to provide students with a strong grounding and transferable skills in Digital Animation Production processes and techniques for 3D Computer Animation. The course is developed to enable learners to become competent in the more artistically – focused disciplines within computer animation and produce graduates with a range and depth of technical and artistic skills necessary to become future Technical Directors. This Higher Diploma has a specific focus on technical direction for the computer animation of film, television and gaming.
The course is a flexible 80% online, 20% face-to-face parttime Higher Diploma ideally suited to those who cannot commit to a full time study programme.
Online learning will be supported using an online virtual learning environment (Moodle). For face-toface learning attendance is required on the DkIT campus one Saturday per month. Extensive coaching and mentoring workshops will be provided.
