Course Content The course aims to provide individuals involved in community and voluntary organisations with an introduction to social enterprise.It will provide students with an understanding of what constitutes a social enterprise, the historical context and ideological influences of social enterprise, the potential for social enterprise in Ireland and the 'nuts and bolts of establishing and successfully operating a social enterprise.
Subjects Taught

Expand+Module 1- Social enterprise, introduction, background and key concepts. This module will seek to place examine the roots of social enterprise. It will explore its current development in terms of policy and practice.

Careers or Further Progression The certificate would enhance students employment prospects in securing employment in social enterprises in a number of capacities including management and sales. It would also be relevant to staff of community and voluntary organisations whose organisations are intending to develop stand alone social enterprises or develop social enterprise strategy for their organisation. It would also provide a gateway into a more advanced educational programmes in the social economy.
