| Course Content |
This programme equips learners with a greater understanding and knowledge of issues around Behaviours of Concern.
Aim of Course
The aim of the programme is to equip the Registered Nurse or equivalent health professional who work in the Health Service with an increased understanding and knowledge of issues around Behaviours of Concern and to develop strategies to manage these behaviours. |

• Demonstrates the ability to develop a strategic management plan through the application and integration of clinical information and advanced assessment skills.
• Prepare and implement individual care plans/person centred plans in conjunction with other members of the multidisciplinary team (where appropriate).
• Develop and deliver a range of therapeutic, rehabilitative, health promoting and socialisation programmes relative to the needs of the service user group.
• Ensure legal, safe and ethical standards in treatment programmes are maintained.
• To manage a crisis as it occurs in relation to behaviours of concern and be able to organise and deliver debriefing with staff and others as appropriate following incidents.
• Promote awareness among all colleagues of best practice in relation to behavioural support management and promote and maintain effective communication with service users, families, friends, advocates and members of the multi-professional team.
• Collaborate with colleagues in the development and review of evidence based nursing policies, procedures, protocols and clinical guidelines.

It is envisaged that learners who graduate from this course will possess 60 ECTS credits which should facilitate their progress on to further post- graduate studies e.g. Master of Science/Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Disability Nursing. |
