Entry Criteria
Entry criteria / prerequisites Level 5 Certificate / Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) or relevant life experience detailed in a current Curriculum Vitae. Please provide details and attach a copy of either a current CV or Certificate. Learners must be a resident of Ireland / based in Ireland.

English
As this NFQ level 6 qualification is delivered through English it is necessary learners will have sufficient written English skills to complete this course. Forus Training recommends a minimum English language competency of IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent) for successful completion of this programme. If you are not sure what level of English competency you have, please contact hello@forustraining.ie and a Course Advisor will arrange for you to take an assessment.

IT Skills and Equipment Required
Basic working knowledge of computers and access to a computer with internet access is required to do the course. A PC with Windows 8 or later or a Mac with OSX 10.5 or later.

Word processing software, such as MS Word or Google Docs.

What are my progression routes?
This course leads to a level 6 award on the National Framework of Qualifications. Students who successfully complete this programme may use their credits towards completing a higher level of study in the area of Business/Management.

This course will allow you to explore the principles and practices of marketing communications, which will enable you to analyse, evaluate and critically apply marketing communication techniques, while working independently and in a supervisory capacity.

Throughout this programme, you will discover how to;
Analyse the a range of communication theories to include the impact of Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) on corporate strategy and planning

Examine the concept of advertising to include the role of the advertising agency and the impact of relevant legislation and regulation in the context of advertising on a chosen product or service

Outline the relevant legislation, regulation and professional associations in the context of personal selling

Research sales promotion to include the difference between primary and secondary sales promotion techniques and the role of sales promotion technique in relation to Integrated Marketing Communications

Research public relations (PR) to include the various PR tools and their effectiveness in a marketing communications programme

Differentiate between issue management and crisis management to include PR strategies to respond to both

Analyse the concept of personal selling to include negotiation and sales targets and the difference between personal and non-personal forms of selling

Develop an advertising campaign to include; setting objectives, identifying target audience, determining budget and identifying appropriate message and media evaluation techniques

Evaluate the impact of recent trends and developments in direct marketing

Analyse how effective database marketing canimprovecustomer relationships to include the impact of the internet, social media and mobile communications as a direct marketing tools

Interpret the current ethical issues around the use of PR, advertising and the use of sales promotions to include the legislation and regulation governing direct marketing to include current data protection legislation.
