Entry Requirements

A primary degree at 2.1 level (Second Class Honours, Grade One) is normally required. However, all applicants will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, and relevant or extensive work experience will be taken into account.

Transcripts should accompany an application, including grades for each subject taken in the primary degree.

Some experience working in a cultural organisation in whatever capacity.

Name and contact details of two referees.

Admission is subject to interview either in person, by video skype, or telephone.

Applicants whose first language is not English must also demonstrate English language proficiency of IELTS 6.5 (no band less than 6.0 in each element), or equivalent.

Graduates will have the capacity to negotiate, research and think strategically about policy issues and to apply practical management skills (acquired primarily through modules in marketing, management, finance, law and strategic planning) in running arts or heritage organisations.

We offer a 60 credit NFQ Level 9 Graduate Diploma in Cultural Policy and Arts Management. The Graduate Diploma involves a workload of 10 modules distributed across the Autumn and Spring trimesters. A pathway is provided whereby those who achieve a Graduate Diploma qualification can proceed to complete a 30 credit minor dissertation to fufill the requirements for the award of MA in Cultural and Arts Management. All elements, leading to the award of the MA Degree must be completed within a three-year timeframe.

You have the option to accumulate 60 credits towards a Graduate Diploma qualification by taking modules offered in the Autumn Trimester (September - December) and the Spring Trimester (January - May) delivered between the hours of 9 am - 5pm.

You then have the option to undertake a capstone 30 credit minor dissertation for the award of MA in Cultural Policy and Arts Management.

To complete the 60 credit Graduate Diploma, students will have to acquire 8-weeks of work experience with an appropriate organisation in the cultural field, nationally or internationally.

The window for this is April-July each academic year.
