Fees are tuition fees only, except where otherwise indicated. Some validating bodies charge separate registration/examination fees. Please refer to their respective websites.

20% discount on tuition fees for individuals in receipt of Full Job Seekers Allowance/ Benefit, Disability Allowance or One Parent Family Payment.

20% discount on tuition fees for all full-time LCFE learners 20% discount on tuition fees for all senior citizens.

Application forms cannot be processed nor places reserved without the full payment of tuition fees. Cheques, bank drafts or postal orders should be made payable to Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (LCETB).

Participant Profile
This course is designed to provide individuals with opportunities to acquire the skills and knowledge to plan, implement and evaluate a suitable programme of activities for a quality school age childcare setting.

Course Description
Early Childhood Education:
• Understanding Play: types/stages/ patterns/benefits of play; safety standards

• Play Activities: physical/creative play; promote maths/ science/ music etc.

• Toys, Games and Play Equipment: suitability; learning tools; books etc.

Childminding Practice:
The purpose of this component is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in the principles, practices and guidelines underpinning best practice in childminding, to enable the learner to work in a professional manner with children and parents in a childminding context within the home setting.

Note: Learners have the option of registering for each module in the full certificate individually.

Accreditation: QQI Level 5 Minor Award in Early Childhood Education and Play 5N1773 and QQI Level 5 Minor Award in ChildMinding Practice 5N1766.

IMPORTANT NOTE THE ELC (Early Learning & Care) Certificate will replace ECCE see note at beginning of Childcare Healthcare Section in this booklet.
