After this three hour intensive course, participants can avail of the option to get a first responder card, recognised by the Irish Heart Foundation (this is an extra €20).
About the Tutor: Ray Steers is a certified first aid instructor, recognised by The Irish Heart Foundation and PHECC. He is very effective in his teaching methods, and students leave with a good sense of how to help others in times of emergency.
This intensive three hour course covers many life saving skills including:
- How to respond to someone who collapses suddenly
- The actions to take when this happens- what to check and look out for (for cardiac arrest)
- How to perform CPR on adults and children
- Practice CPR on a mannequin
- How to use a defibrillator
- Choking – types of choking and correct action to take to save somebody’s life
- Recognising the signs of a stroke and what to do
- Heart attacks- recognising and action to take
- Wounds and breakages- how to apply pressure/ bandages correctly, etc and next steps to take
