Entry Requirements

The current minimum entry requirements for students to be accepted on the MBS in Finance and Business Analytics are as follows:

Applicants must hold at least a 2nd Class Honours Grade 2, Level 8 qualification in business/finance/economics/IT

Students holding a non-business/IT honours degree of the type listed above are eligible to apply. Applicants may be asked to attend an advising interview. These applicants will need to provide evidence that they possess strong numeracy and IT skills.

Students without a Level 8 qualification may qualify under RPL as per SETU Waterford academic guidelines.

International students must meet the SETU Waterford requirements for postgraduates in IELTS or equivalent. This programme resides in the School of Business (this is important when determining the appropriate English language competency criteria to apply).

The courses provides students with the opportunity to professionally develop. On completion of the course students will exhibit quantitative, analytical and ICT skills to carry out data and financial analysis tasks in their current employment or perhaps provide students with the stepping stone for a career in financial/data analysis.

The MBS in Finance and Business Analytics will enable participants to:

Exhibit curiosity, in a critical manner, in evaluating analysis undertaken by themselves or others.

Develop their careers within their current employment or as an initial stepping stone to a career as a financial analyst/data analyst.

The MBS in Finance and Business Analytics enables participants to develop quantitative, analytical and ICT skills to carry out data and financial analysis tasks in their current employment or as an initial stepping off point for a career as financial analyst/data analyst.

It has been developed in response to demand from companies for specialist graduates with advanced skills and knowledge in areas such as statistics, data modelling, business intelligence and financial analysis.

This course will also enable existing employees to acquire key skills and competencies to help them advance their career and make a greater contribution in their workplace. It will serve as a platform for knowledge expansion and the acquisition of new skills and competencies thereby developing a new mind set amongst employees in preparation for the demands of the ever-changing business environment.

The Master of Business in Finance and Business Analytics is fully accredited by the Institute of Analytics (IoA) which is the Professional Body for Analytics and Data Science professionals in the UK and Internationally.
