Learners will also receive advice and instruction in interpreting various crochet and knitting patterns. In the area of embroidery, stitch and techniques particular to speci?c embroideries, such as, Mountmellick, Sprigging and traditional surface embroidery, will be used to create different projects. Participants will also be instructed how to use traditional embroidery stitches to embellish crocheted, knitted and fabric garments. This concept can be extended to revitalize casual clothes, including jumpers, tops, and scarves. For example, a jumper can be given a new lease of life by attaching a crochet trim to the sleeves; similarly, the garment itself could also be lengthened in this way. Imaginative ideas such as these can have a positive impact on the environment with an emphasis on recycling/upcycling clothes.
