Learners will be assessed in Infection Prevention (CoVId-19), aimed at gaining the ITEC Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention (CoVId-19) for Sport and Fitness Sessions

Recommended: Applicant to hold Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing or equivalent. In collaboration with JS Fitness & Performance DOON, Co. Limerick

20% discount on tuition fees for individuals in receipt of Full Job Seekers Allowance/ Benefit, Disability Allowance or One Parent Family Payment.

20% discount on tuition fees for all full-time LCFE learners 20% discount on tuition fees for all senior citizens.

Application forms cannot be processed nor places reserved without the full payment of tuition fees. Cheques, bank drafts or postal orders should be made payable to Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (LCETB).

PARTICIPANT PROFILE
This course is suitable for participants that hold a level 2 training in Fitness Instructing or equivalent and possess the required knowledge, understanding and skills, aimed at successfully achieving this ITEC Spinning Instructor qualification.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
There are 2 units contained in this award:

• Unit 1: Planning Studio Cycling Sessions
Planning studio cycling sessions – to include selecting suitable exercises, equipment and programme, adapting the programme to suit the client’s specific needs and fitness goals and recording the studio cycling sessions

• Unit 2: Instructing Studio Cycling Sessions
Instructing studio cycling sessions – to include preparing the equipment, environment and clients, demonstrating technically correct studio cycling sessions, providing clear and concise instructions for each exercise and lift, adapting the exercises with suitable progression and regression according to the client’s needs, providing feedback and instruction points to the client, receiving feedback from the client and recording action plan for improvement

The learner will also develop knowledge about current health and
safety legislation, contra-indications
and potential risks and client care and
communication which are essential to
work and be successful in the industry

This qualification also provides:
The related knowledge and understanding required to perform the studio cycling sessions skills listed above effectively, in particular health and safety considerations, origins and benefits, types of equipment and reasons that may affect whether a client should or should not join a studio cycling sessions session
