The Dublinia Cultural and Heritage programme, delivered in collaboration with the City of Dublin Education Training Board (CDETB,) is a QQI Level 5 Major Award. The training programme combines training and work experience which takes place in the lovely surrounds of Dublinia in our specially designed classrooms.

What kind of work experience is involved? – Work experience takes place in Dublinia, one of the busiest and most exciting attractions in Dublin and you will also get to choose a heritage site or attraction to complete your work experience module to make sure you get what you want out of it. These placements help to broaden your knowledge of other Heritage sites along with creating personal links to enhance your career.

On the course you will gain certification in the Cultural & Heritage Studies Major award. Modules include; Local History, Heritage, Folklore & Ethnology, Appreciation of Irish Culture, Archaeology, Communications, Customer Service and French.

Work Experience will also be gained in Dublinia Heritage Centre and St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Other certificates to be gained will be in First Aid, Manual Handling and Evac-Chair Training.

Field trips to Folk life Museum in Castlebar, Navan Fort, Boyne valley and all the major attractions in Dublin included.

What do you study? – Subjects like Local History, Heritage, Folklore and Ethnology, Archaeology, and more. But it’s not all in the classroom, to compliment this you will get to go on lots of familiarisation trips to other heritage sites around Ireland, places you may never have heard of before, well off the beaten track!
