Engineering - Mechanical Engineering
This course is a combination of mechanical engineering principles and design, and manufacturing processes and systems. The course allows for a wide range of practical activities and opportunities for team working, data analysis and problem solving, incorporating various computer-based IT engineering applications. Students have access to industry standard design software packages including Solid Works, AutoCAD, Cosmos FEA, and are encouraged to develop their IT skills using software such as Microsoft Office.

Entry Requirements
64 UCAS points. Applicants must have at least one of Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Engineering, Science or Technology at H5 Higher level and 4 OLCs (Grade 04 or above) Maths and English at Grade H6 or above (Higher Level) or Grade O4 or above (Ordinary Level) if not sitting at Higher Level is also required . As with all Higher Engineering courses, students require a good standard of mathematics and applied mathematics. Certain BTEC Level 3 Maths units (as instructed on an annual basis from the Faculty) may be acceptable in lieu of OLC Maths: **Level 2 Essential Skills in Communication is acceptable in lieu of OLC English. Relevant Access Course: with an overall mark of at least 45%, including passes in Mathematics and a Science subject. APEL (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning) may apply for entry .

Completion of the Foundation Degree can lead to direct entry to second year of a Honours Degree at university (depending on your overall mark).
