This course is designed for both beginners and more experienced writers who are wishing to develop their own style and voice.

The course comprises of workshop-led two hour sessions in which the class will draw on exercises to unlock the individual writer’s greatest strengths, focusing on style, story and emotional resonance.

Participants will cover a variety of forms and find the one best suited to the individual, so that by the end of the course each will have a short story, opening chapter of a novel, a scene for a play or screenplay, or poem.

The objective is to stimulate the imagination in a supportive environment and to foster a love for the writing process that will continue long after the course has ended.

The course is taught by Lisa Harding whose award-winning novel, Harvesting, has just been optioned for the screen by the BAFTA-winning director of the Channel 4 series The Derry Girls.

In November 2018, Lisa was selected by The Irish Times as the Bookclub choice. Her second novel Bright Burning Things was published this year to critical acclaim and has been shortlisted for Kerry Group novel of the year and also a Dalkey literary prize. Roddy Doyle said ‘Harvesting is shocking – and shockingly good.

It is thought-provoking, anger-provoking, guilt-provoking, and – most importantly – it is a brilliantly written novel’.
