This course will provide students who wish to have a career in hairdressing with the range of practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed in this rewarding area of the hairdressing industry. Duration
1 Year. This is a full-time one-year course and runs from September to May.

Closing date for first round of applications is Friday May 3rd 2024 at 2:00pm.
Pre Guidance Meetings where applicable will take place from May 20th 2024
Offers of places will issue following completion of first round pre-guidance meetings
Second Round applications open June 4th 2024.
Pre-entry guidance meetings will take place from August 30th subject to availability of places.
Application system closes on September 30th for 2024 full-time entry.
€175 Registration Fee applies to all students
A student who achieves a QQI Level 5 Award and Junior Trades in Hairdressing in Year 1, may qualify to enter Hairdressing Year 2 and study for Senior Trades & City & Guilds qualifications at GTI. Having completed Senior Trades, a graduate may enter the industry as a Senior Improver.

•Maintain Health & Safety in the Salon Client Consultation for Hairdressing Services
•Shampoo and Condition the Hair and Scalp
•Cut Women's Hair
•Style & Dress Women's Hair
•Colour Hair
•Perm & Neutralise Hair
•Plaiting & Twisting
•Promote Products and Services to Clients
•Creative styling
•Hairdressing science
Optional Modules:
Learners may also have the opportunity to study Maths as an extra module.
Certification:
Year 2 offers certification in Senior Trades Examination (Department of Education & Skills) and City & Guilds Level 2 or 3.
Course Structure:
Year 2 Awards Certification in Senior Trades Examination Department of Education & Skills & Diploma in Women's Hairdressing Level 2 - City & Guilds Candidates who have achieved Level 2 City & Guilds, may register for Level 3 City & Guilds.
