Entry Requirements

We welcome independent, motivated self-starters which the discipline, commitment and desire to learn independently. All learners over 23 must meet with Programme Manager prior to formal admission in order to assess their needs, and if necessary to advise of alternative paths to progression, i.e. as part-time students.

Learners who have previously completed the Diploma in Legal Studies and Practice at Griffith College may proceed directly to the second year of this programme. Also, learners under 23 years of age on 1st January of the year of admission must meet the following Leaving Certificate requirements, Min. 2 H5 and 4 O6/H7 grades, to include a language (English, Irish or another language).

Technical Requirements
Students must have a laptop with a functioning webcam, an external microphone headset, access to broadband.

English Language
Griffith College is accepting the online Duolingo English Test (DET) as valid proof of English proficiency.

The Griffith College law degree (LL.B. (Hons)) holders are eligible to sit the Law Society of Ireland, Final Examinations (Part 1).

Will also be required to upload a copy of their Leaving Certificate results with their application. A knowledge of basic IT skills is required for students taking the blended course, due to the reliance on the online learning facilities.

Applicants over 23 years of age (Mature students):
You will need to fill out the online application form online uploading a copy of your photo I.D. (passport or driving licence) with it.

The LL.B. (Hons) (Blended) law programme is an innovative and interactive teaching and learning experience, delivered through a combination of online and classroom-based learning. Students studying via blended have increased flexibility in organising their studies.

Why Study LL.B. (Hons) Blended at Griffith College?
The LL.B. (Hons) (Blended) programme is fully comparable to the full-time and part-time LL.B. (Hons) (Blended) programmes at Griffith College and only the mode of delivery differs, providing learners with professional or personal commitments, and those living outside of the greater Dublin area with a more flexible offering. This course is validated by QQI at Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications and content and assessment are identical to the full-time and part-time LL.B. (Hons) (Blended) programmes. Students visit the Dublin campus on a monthly basis for ‘live’ days for each course, and, they have access to all facilities provided to full-time and part-time students, as well as the option of participating in the wide range of extracurricular activities undertaken by full-time and part-time law students at Griffith College, such as mooting, debating, FLAC and the Irish Innocence Project.

Blended offers flexibility to LL.B learners, who may have professional and/or personal commitments that would render this a more feasible mode of study.

February Intake:
The February Intake of the LLB (Hons) is designed to allow learners complete the Programme in 3.5 academic years. This allows learners to take their Year 1 Modules over 1.5 academic years.

Learners on the February Intake commence their studies with two core law modules taken over a semester: Introduction to Law and Legal Skills and Information Technology Skills. On successfully completing the February Intake, learners progress onto the September intake of the following academic yearn to take Law of Contract, Law of Tort and Criminal Law over that academic year. Learners progressing onto the September Intake can also choose (subject to numbers) the delivery option that works for them: full-time, part-time, or blended learning. Taking core Year 1 modules over this longer academic period and with this choice of delivery suits many learners but is particularly suitable for learners balancing work/family commitments.

*N.B. Students who wish to be registered for the February intake of the LL.B. (Hons) will be registered as full-time learners in their first academic year of registration and will be required to attend classes on campus, as outlined in the most recent timetable circulated. It is only in the subsequent academic year that they can choose to register as full-time, part-time or blended learners attending according to the structure of those separate modes of delivery.

September Intake:
The September Intake of the LLB (Hons) is designed to allow learners complete the Programme in 3.5 academic years. Flexibility is offered to LL.B. (Blended) learners, who may also opt for a four-year progression where professional and/or personal commitments would render this a more feasible option.
