Entry Criteria
Entry criteria / prerequisites Level 5 Certificate / Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) or relevant life experience detailed in a current Curriculum Vitae. Please provide details and attach a copy of either a current CV or Certificate. Learners must be a resident of Ireland / based in Ireland.

English
As this NFQ level 6 qualification is delivered through English it is necessary learners will have sufficient written English skills to complete this course. Forus Training recommends a minimum English language competency of IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent) for successful completion of this programme. What are my progression routes?
This course leads to a level 6 award on the National Framework of Qualifications. Students who successfully complete this programme may use their credits towards completing a higher level of study in the area of Business/Management.

Students who successfully complete this Major Award can also use the Certificate as the basis for entry into selected courses in Third Level Colleges and Universities.

This award will equip you with knowledge of the principles and practice of the law and legislation as applicable to your business practice.

Throughout this programme, you will discover how to;
Examine the history of Irish and European Union law

Assess the Irish Court system to include a review of its jurisdiction, the trial process, the law of evidence, and the doctrine of precedent
Identify the main features of Contract Law including formation, capacity, discharge, performance and breach of contract

Examine the origins of Contract Law in Case Law to include the role of Judges in developing judicial precedent

Outline the following areas of Tort law; nature of tortious liability, negligence, trespass, defamation, vicarious liability, economic torts as well as defences and remedies

Examine the sources of monetary compensation in Tort and the role of the criminal justice system with regard to tortious acts

Summarise the main concepts of Property Law, to include, property, land, and ownership, transfer of title, registration of land, incorporeal hereditaments, mortgages, law of succession, and the family home

Explore Acts of Legislation associated with Property Law and their impact on the rights of owners and tenants

Examine the main provisions of Employment Law in Ireland to include its impact on employers and employees and the involvement of European Legislation in developing this area of law

Research Irish Employment Law cases on issues that relate to contracts of employment, unfair dismissal, equal pay, sexual harassment and equality in the workplace

Research Irish Banking, Consumer, Commercial, Company, Health and Safety and Media law

Explore the meaning of jurisprudence to include the questions, theories and schools of thought, in general jurisprudence

Generate legal documents according to supplied specifications.

A skills demonstration is used to assess a wide range of practical based learning outcomes including practical skills and knowledge. A skills demonstration will require the learner to complete a task or series of tasks that demonstrate a range of skills.

Learner Record
A learner record is the learner's self-reported and self-reflective record in which he/she describes specific learning experiences, activities, responses and skills acquired.
