The Athletic Performance specialism graduates are equipped to work in a variety of settings: as Strength & Conditioning Specialists, Fitness Conditioning Consultants, Fitness & Leisure Operational Management, Commercial Group Exercise Leaders, Personal Trainers, Group Exercise Leaders, Gym Instructors/Supervisors, Fitness and Programming Professionals for teams/athletes, Activity Leaders with children and older adults.

The Institute welcomes applications from persons who will be 23 years of age and over on the 1st of January of the proposed year of entry and who wish to be admitted as a mature student. The Institute reserves a minimum of 5% of all places for mature applicants.

In March of each year, MTU welcomes applications for add-on degree and honours degree programmes, with a commencement date of the following September.

The application process is open for one month, from early March to the first week in April each year (this date changes slightly due to the Easter holidays, but it is always within the first week in April).

What is Athletic Performance?
The Athletic Performance student will share a number of modules with the students completing specialisms in Wellness Promotion and Sports Development. In addition, the Athletic Performance graduate has specialist knowledge in: Current Trends in the Fitness Industry, Sport and Fitness Conditioning, Sport and Leisure Management, Postural Cultivation, Activity Leadership, Sport Psychology and Motor Learning, Sport Development: Elite sport, Advanced Performance Training (Core skills in strength and conditioning).
